About Pista
Eric and Arabella: a developer and a designer in Auckland, building websites for small businesses.
Why Pista
A small business should have a website that speaks to all of its customers, that its own staff can update, and that it owns outright. We started Pista to build that kind of website for small businesses in New Zealand.
Pista is two people, and you deal directly with both of us.
Two people, two roles
Eric builds
Eric has been building websites and web apps for about six years. He writes the code, sets up the editor, the forms and the search basics, and he's the one who answers your email.
Arabella designs
She shapes how your site looks and feels: the three home page directions, the layout, colour and type, and the details that make it yours.
Why “Pista”
Pista comes from pistachio. In Chinese a pistachio is 开心果 (kāixīnguǒ): word for word, “happy fruit”.
A small, cheerful name for a studio that works in both languages.
What we won't do
Lock you in.
Your accounts, code and content are in your name from the start, so you're free to leave whenever you like.
Charge a monthly fee for a site that doesn't need one.
A simple website, built ahead of time, usually runs on a free hosting plan. We don't add a fee of our own on top.
Promise rankings.
No one can honestly promise you a place on Google. We set the basics up properly and show you the real numbers at month 1 and 3.
